2015 Food & Toy Drive Supporting Project 29:11 Food Bank

What is Project 29:11?

Watch this video to see all the good that Project 29:11 does by helping local residents who are hit with hard times.

Please help us by Donating food and unwrapped toys that will be distributed during their annual Christmas Party on December 12th. Drop off your Donations at any of these local Covina Area Businesses from now until December 11th. Lets show our neighbors that Covina cares and wants to help.

Back 2 School Blast Needs YOUR Help!

2015-07-14 11_11_42-Hangouts - newcenturybroker@gmailDid you know that for the last 15 years Project 29:11 has hosted the annual Back 2 School Blast?

You might be asking yourself, What is the Back 2 School Blast? Its an awesome community event taking place on August 7th at Covina Park that distributes backpacks filled with school supplies to families who might not otherwise be able to afford these items for their kids on their own. Not only do these kids get new backpacks filled with school supplies but they also get free dental, vision and medical screenings which are so important for the health of these children.

As if that wasn’t enough Taco Bell has partnered with the Back 2 School Blast to offer a light meal to everyone and several of our local beauty colleges are providing free haircuts! There will also be fun for the kids, like free face painting, and their parents/caretakers can speak with agencies that can provide free services to these families. 2015-07-14 11_12_26-Hangouts - newcenturybroker@gmail

New Century Realtors-Covina has pledged to gather supplies that are going to go in these backpacks. Last year over 900 backpacks were given out to children and we are hoping to make it more this year!

Can you help? We would so appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes out of your day to buy a few items and drop them off either at Project 29:11 located at 250 E. San Bernardino Rd, Covina or at New Century Realtors-Covina located at 254 E. Rowland Street in Covina. Every little bit will definitely help give these kids the right start to the coming school year.

If you are interested in volunteering at the event or have any questions please contact Sandy Futter at sfutter.p2911@gmail.com or (626)373-2976.

Cal Poly Pomona’s Annual Pumpkin Festival is this Weekend! (10/18-10/19)

This is not in Covina but it is only a ride over the hill at Cal Poly Pomona! This will be the 5th Pumpkin Festival that I attend, I started going when my son was only a few weeks old and have made it a family tradition ever since. Its such a great event for pictures that you’ll treasure forever, I know I do. Make sure to bring your walking shoes and maybe even a wagon for you to carry the pumpkins in. It tends to be busier the later in the day you get there and parking fills quickly so try to get there early in the morning. If you go make sure you tag @CovinaResidents when you post on Instagram!

Here’s the info from their website:2009

Covina Residents Blog is Born!

Image

Hi Everyone!

I am so excited to be launching this brand new blog for Covina Residents! Some of you are already fans of the Covina Residents Facebook page but if you aren’t make sure you like the page, there is also a quick like button over on the left.

I am by no means an amazing writer, I’m actually a full time real estate Broker and owner of New Century Realtors & Associates right here in Covina, but I LOVE Covina. I grew up in Covina and am a current Covina Resident along with my husband, 2 boys, and 2 Furbabies (Roxy & Rocco).

The intention behind the blog is to keep Covina Residents notified about what is going on in our beautiful city. Summer is right around the corner and with that comes amazing programs for our children and us to enjoy. Who doesn’t love the Starlight Concert Series, Kids Night Out, and the Farmer’s Market?

I am also a big believer that we should be supporting our local Covina Small Businesses so keep an eye out for posts about Covina Businesses and Covina Restaurants. Yup, its going to be all about Covina all the time!

Make sure to get your friends to follow our blog and please let me know if you would like me to “Spotlight” anything in particular!
